Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Patent Support Coordinator in their Silicon Valley office. This role will be responsible for assisting with and coordinating all phases of patent prosecution matters from the initial filing through patent issuance, managing client docket portfolios within firm docket system as well as collaborating with the USPTO, attorneys, foreign associates and staff.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Train new patent prosecution support staff on client-specific requirements.
  • Process prebills and invoices as well as prepare and provide budgets to clients;
  • Provide input on training programs, and participate in process improvements on a team level;
  • Communicate with foreign associates to ensure deadlines are met on an as needed basis and assist with processing foreign associate and vendor invoices;
  • Prepare engagement letters;
  • Assist with new client file openings;
  • Prepare and communicate status reports to clients;
  • Assist with management of workflow to the team;
  • Work with Docketing Team, and File Intake Manager on docketing and file intake processes;
  • Work directly with clients to request access to their portals, troubleshoot issues, provide status updates, and provide the necessary requested client reports;
  • Communicate with the Director of Administration regarding staffing needs;
  • Provide administrative support for patent pro bono work;
  • Provide backup coverage and support to LPAs;
  • Monitor the urgent upcoming docket dates and follow up with the RA/LPA handling the matters;
  • Assist with client annuity payments and issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.
  • Highly organized with an ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work comfortably with all levels of lawyers and professional staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and web-based applications.
  • Must work well under pressure, be a problem-solver, and a team player.
  • Harbor a supportive environment that encourages teamwork and positive attitude toward the firm

COMPENSATION: $71,413-$124,400 is the estimated salary range for this role in Silicon Valley, CA. Starting salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
