As a Cognizant System Engineer/Technical Authority for assigned systems, coordinates configuration management activities, assesses system health and performance, and provides overall technical responsibility for plant system operability and maintenance activities. Works in conjunction with the Configuration Management program for the assigned system(s).
All electrical engineers will apply technical expertise and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the Electrical Engineering field with power or instrumentation focus. The electrical engineer will provide self-performed technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems through the application of established engineering practices, codes, and standards. Field troubleshooting support of existing systems will be required.
Power electrical engineers will primarily focus on standard industrial systems at the medium voltage (15 kV class) and low voltage (< 600 V) levels. The Electrical Engineering group in Facility Engineering manages renewable energy in the form of an 11.5MW wind farm. Design packages will be reviewed to ensure they convey the technical requirements for the installation and/or modification of outside site distribution infrastructure and facility power distribution equipment such as substations, transformers, power switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), generators, UPSs, and general building electrical systems.
I&C electrical engineers will primarily focus on review wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, cabinet assembly drawings, system diagrams, and control logic for both batch and continuous processes using conventional analog instrumentation, distributed digital control systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
The Electrical Contractor Authority Having Jurisdiction (ECAHJ) Electrical Engineer will primarily focus on and is responsible for interpreting the National Electrical Code NFPA-70 as well as approving electrical equipment.
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Facility Lightning Protection Electrical Engineer will primarily focus on and is responsible for interpreting the code (NFPA-780) and reviewing and approving installations and repairs
