Summer Associate - Summer Seasonal Opportunity - Make Extra Cash this summer!

Our onsite branch wholesale team has great summer openings in several of our Mid-Atlantic locations this summer!

Our summer seasonal associates have a chance to learn about the HVAC-R distribution and wholesale industry, learn about systems and operations, learn new business and people skills, and build a professional network while earning a great income $$ this summer season!!

• Positions open starting in May/June through August 2024.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Pay Rate: $17hr.
• Hourly work hours Day Time Monday - Friday (no nights or weekends!)
• Will work onsite at one of our locations - please designate your location preference in the Applications Questions Section of our online application or note your preference at the top of your resume.

• Chesapeake, Virginia (Newport News, VA, VA Beach, VA coverage as well)

• Frederick, Maryland
• Gaithersburg, Maryland
• Hanover, Maryland (coverage for White Marsh, MD and Laurel, MD as well)

More about our summer position:

Seasonal Hours - General Summer Hours (6-8 hours per day) - all roles are scheduled Monday - Friday day shift (no nights or weekends generally - some summer associates may be asked to work 2-3 Saturday mornings in certain branch locations)

Interview Process: We will begin interviewing for the Summer Associate position in early April. Interviews will include an initial phone interview with HR and with an onsite or Zoom meeting with the onsite location hiring manager.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Summer Associate on our first shift (day) team at our Richmond, VA warehouse and distribution center where we manage wholesale and B2B products for our Mid-Atlantic customers.

What does a Summer Associate learn about and do?

• Understanding the logistics and operations of our commercial, institutional, and wholesale business operations
• Learns our operating systems to support clients in planning and purchasing.
• Stores materials/equipment as needed in the facility.
• Upholds environmental health and safety standards.
• Works closely with internal customers such as Wholesale team members, Distribution Center team members, fellow Branch Associates and Sales personnel)
• Provides excellent customer service to external customers who visit the site (mechanical contractors, dealers, owners, and partners)
• Learn parts tracking and management process to maintain parts and supplies and pull orders when needed.
• Collaborate with trained warehouse team members to support material handling to plan for the staging, loading, and unloading product process.
• Other duties as assigned by the Branch Sales Manager
• Follows safety procedures and training to ensure a safe and productive workspace.
• Willing to work a daily schedule from approximately 8:00am - 4:00pm (some teams may plan a work schedule that can flex up to 60 minutes to support the business needs.)

• Ability to learn processes and follow detailed instructions.
• Training or experience with reviewing written task requirements or orders to complete a process or task.
• Previous training or experience in retail, customer service, material handling or product delivery or similar service-related experience or training a plus
• Ability to safely work in a wholesale and distribution environment.
• Recent grads and students are welcome - must be 18 years of age or older to be considered.
• Willingness to train and learn - also, if you have general experience supporting retail, warehouse, and logistics, pulling, and tracking inventory, parts or materials and tracking that information is preferred, but not required.
• Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer skills to enter timecard, review training materials and view video tutorials and review company documents on a company provided computer.
• Proven commitment to customer service and a safe work environment
• Willing to work Monday-Friday 6-8 hours per day.
• Must be team-oriented and willing to work with a diverse group of co-workers.

Other Important Notes:

• Summer Associates must complete both a Pre-employment Background Check and a Drug Screen urinalysis prior to hire (company paid)
• Our Summer Associates and team members are paid bi-weekly (every other Friday)
