DESCRIPTION & DETAILS
Holton-Arms is seeking a passionate, experienced, student-centered Sixth Grade Language Arts/Homeroom teacher. This person will create and implement a Language Arts curriculum, provide Language Arts instruction for four sections of sixth grade, and lead one of our four sixth grade homerooms and an advisory group of 6-8 students. The Sixth Grade Language Arts teacher needs to be able to inspire a passion for reading and writing amongst students using a workshop model, work closely with grade-level colleagues to design integrated units, and communicate effectively with parents. The successful candidate will be prepared to commit to and promote the School's Mission as well as the institutional priorities embodied in the School's philosophy of and the . Engaging in curriculum redesign towards a more deliberate anti-racist curriculum is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate should have:
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant teaching experience and curriculum development
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Elementary Education/Middle School English
  • Experience embedding Social and Emotional Learning, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging, and Global Competencies into their curriculum
  • Experience leading an advisory is preferred
  • Passion for working with sixth-grade girls
  • Commitment to creating a student-centered, project-based, and competency-driven classroom
  • Proficiency with technology and digital platforms in the classroom
  • Eagerness to collaborate with colleagues within and across disciplines
  • Commitment to continued professional learning
