The Weapon Systems Engineering Group is seeking a technical professional to help us define and assess current and future defensive weapon designs against a wide variety of modern and projected threats. We are a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists who study the performance of RF and EO/IR-guided missiles, seekers, signal/image processing algorithms, guidance and control, fuzing/lethality, and the relevant operating environments. We make an enormous impact across many mission areas including air defense, ballistic missile defense, and hypersonic missile defense!

As a Senior Weapon Simulation Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to evaluate weapon system effectiveness by both developing and applying an assortment of medium and high-fidelity physics-based simulations and comprehensive pre- and post-processing analysis tools.

  • You will analyze, evaluate and represent guided missile functionalities and their associated environments, including EO/IR and RF seeker operations with special emphasis on Electronic Protection, RF environments, IR scene rendering, communications links, handover process, etc.
  • You will identify limiting factors to system performance using a variety of guided weapon simulations as well as propose and analyze software improvements and hardware enhancements that address these limitations.
  • You will support integration of new and existing weapons into new firing platforms and sensor networks.
  • You will participate in live testing and hardware testing, using the collected data to validate design assumptions, assess current design sufficiency and add to the database of environmental data.
  • You will present conclusions to sponsors and industry and provide written documentation of work.
  • You will carry out assigned duties with minimal direction and mentor junior engineers and analysts conducting similar technical work.


Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, computer or electrical engineering, physics, or mathematics.
  • Have 5+ years of professional experience in performing analysis, design trades, and studies of sophisticated defense systems using medium and high fidelity simulations.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, Julia, FORTRAN, C/C++, and the LINUX OS.
  • Strong communication skills needed to interact with government sponsors through both written and verbal communications.
  • Are able to obtain an interim Secret security clearance by your start date and ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Special Working Conditions : Occasional travel to sponsor, contractor, or government facilities for meetings and reviews. Occasional support of test events involving extended hours, travel aboard ships and travel to field sites.

You 'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a Master's degree or higher in aerospace, mechanical, computer or electrical engineering, physics, or mathematics.
  • Have 7 or more years of professional experience in guided missile system design and evaluation.
  • Solid programming language skills in FORTRAN, C/C++, and Java in the LINUX OS.
  • Solid analytical background using detailed high-fidelity missile 6-DOF simulations for one or more of the following systems: STANDARD Missile, Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile, GBI, NGI, THAAD, PAC-3 MSE, AMRAAM, AIM-9X, RAM.
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering environments using MBSE tools is a plus.
  • Hold an active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret level clearance.
  • Have SCI and SAP access.
