Job Description

Wanted: An experienced MQ Senior Engineer with demonstrated experience in developing, creating, and modifying general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions. Design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency. Analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team. May supervise computer programmers. Preference given to candidates with skill set to build innovative middleware solutions for enterprise scale environments.

A week in the life of a MQ Senior Engineer:

  • Support UMB SOA infrastructure (IBM MQ, IIB, DataPower, IBM APM, WESB & BPM on Linux, AIX and mainframe).
  • Drive application and infrastructure integration for middleware messaging. 
  • Review and manage technical requirements and business functional requirements to establish Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform. 
  • Help define Cloud technology roadmaps and solutions.
  • Update and upgrade Linux, AIX and IBM middleware software packages. 
  • Lead support for IBM MQ and Apache Active MQ infrastructure on Linux, AIX and mainframe.  
  • Provide MQ support to include change management, installation, design, test, implementation and production support for data integration; project management, OS support, and departmental liaison across technical/ business unit, support procedure development, proof of concept testing, change management, and training; and software and OS upgrades, 24 x 7 support, MQ administration on Windows, Unix, Linux and mainframe  
  • Provide performance analysis support to production/non-production environments.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. Job Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of recent and relevant experience. 
  • Required certification: IBM System Administrator for MQ 
  • Preferred education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business management, information technology management, or a related field. 
  • Domain expertise: Middleware / Cloud, Monitoring, Operating System, Security. 
  • Technical skills: AWS, Cloud Services, VPC, Route 53, IAM, EC2, S3 AWS Cloud, AWS Systems Manager, CloudWatch, Control Tower, CloudTrail, AWS SQS, AWS SNS, Amazon MQ, AWS Config, AWS Auto Scaling, IBM APM, BMC MainView, MQMon, Nastel Auto-Pilot, AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, AWS Guard Duty, AWS Cloud Events, IBM MQ (v 5 – 10), IIB(v 2 – 10), DataPower, WAS (v 5 – 8), AMQ, Linux, UNIX, AIX, Windows, Mainframe, SSL, TLS 1, 1.2., Venafi. 
  • Other preferred certifications: IBM Integration Specialist, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.   
  • Previous Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel clearance preferred but not required. 
  • Prior experience with and knowledge of TSA’s mission priorities, systems, and applications preferred but not required. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.  Ability to coordinate across large groups of people at multiple levels.
