Job/Internship Description

Helio Health is on a mission to treat and promote recovery from the effects of substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. To advance our mission, we are looking to bring on an Intern to support various Human Resources functions important to facilitating the growth and retention of our team of passional behavioral healthcare professionals.

The Intern will work out of our Administration office in Syracuse, NY. This is an unpaid internship and we will allow a flexible schedule to accommodate working around class schedules and other needs in order to satisfy internship requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Will learn and understand employment law and compliance, especially regarding employment eligibility, confidentiality, proper maintenance of employee files, and forms management.
  • Employee benefits management issues related to plan renewal and open enrollment, benefits enrollment and termination, troubleshooting employee benefits issues, and the customer service aspect of benefits oversight.
  • Resolve problems in required HR related paperwork and track outstanding paperwork.
  • Ensure that procedures are performed correctly.
  • Update various databases including the Justice Center log, applicant tracking system, HRIS, etc.
  • Researching, collecting and analyzing data for various HR initiatives.
  • Networking with external resources.
  • Performing reference and background checks.
  • Preparing materials for orientation.
  • Preparing all new hire paperwork.
  • Advertising all open job positions.
  • Creating new personnel files.
  • Assisting with special projects to include auditing, attendance on committees, information collections and staff meetings.

Qualifications

  • Current student in a graduate or undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources.
  • Student Member of SHRM a plus.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently.
