Job Description
Student Orientation Leaders serve as facilitators for the College's New Student Orientation program, helping first-year students, transfers, and/or adult students learn about HCC services, programs, and College life, all to provide students new to the College with a foundation for success. Student Orientation Leaders attend training to review College services and programs and learn orientation program activities; facilitate and lead orientation activities for 10 to 15 students each day of the formal orientation program; engage with students, family members and guests in a professional manner; engender enthusiasm for the College; serve as role models and peer resources for incoming students and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Required Education
A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 12 earned college credits, preferably at HCC, and a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Required Experience
Applicants must be enrolled for classes at the College and be in good standing as an HCC student. Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds is a must. Past student leadership experience is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Applicants must have knowledge of the school and campus, and be able to speak to a crowd. Applicants should also have experince using Microsoft Office programs and have professional communication skills.

General Weekly Work Schedule
Work schedule is as follows: Mandatory paid training will take place in July and will be 3, 4-hours days. Orientation sessions will be held between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. starting on August 2, and run one or two times per week until August 25. Most shifts are 8 hours long. Orientation Leaders must be available to work most sessions during that time.

Orientation Leaders will also assist with the Spring Orientation and will need to be available to work the last 3 weeks of January for 5 hours per week.

In addition, Orientation Leaders will be asked to work one hour per week during the fall and spring semesters.
