Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Curator works closely with the CCMA Curator on a range of matters related to the Museum. The position assists with the tracking of exhibition proposals and related correspondence; with scholarly research for catalogs, exhibitions, and other projects. These may include, but are not limited to, organizing materials for exhibition catalogues, researching and undertaking correspondence related to image-rights, assisting with the organization of scholar's workshops, and assisting with visiting artists. The position handles other duties related to the daily functioning of the museum as assigned.

  • Assists with research and preparations for museum exhibitions; including research potential exhibits. This includes corresponding with artists and lenders to secure the loan of artworks.
  • Organizes materials for exhibition catalogs; researches and undertakes correspondence related to image-rights; catalog designers and printers.
  • Leads tours of museum exhibitions and of permanent collections.
  • Assists with the installation of exhibitions in the museum.
  • Works to assist other programming goals of the Museum and the MAC as needed.
  • Coordinate with artists on shipment and installation of artworks.
  • Helps to train volunteer and student staff.
  • Produces content for website and social media.
  • Coordinates and oversees installation crew.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience required.
      • Bachelor Degree in Art History, museum studies or curatorial studies preferred.
    • Experience
      • 2-3 years of experience with the organization and completion of visual art exhibitions required.
      • Museum or Gallery Exhibition experience preferred.


    Working Conditions:

  • This position will require a background check at the College's expense.


  • Pay Grade:
    Classified 11 Hourly

    Competitive starting salaries are dependent on education and experience. College of DuPage also offers a generous benefits plan.
