Description

Washington College is seeking qualified applicants for the Audio/Visual Systems Engineer position. The Audio/Visual Systems Engineer is responsible for the installation and maintenance of standard classroom audio/visual equipment under the direction of the Senior Director of IT Operations as part of the Technology Services Center. The Audio/Visual Systems Engineer will also coordinate with outside vendors for presentation spaces and classroom furniture projects and work in conjunction with other members of the Tier 2 support team to resolve issues submitted to the Technology Services Center.

Essential Functions:

The Audio/Visual Systems Engineer installs and maintains all A/V equipment in classroom and presentation spaces.

  • Design and install multifaceted presentation space A/V systems
  • Plan and install classroom A/V equipment
  • Provide training for A/V to campus on a regular basis
  • Troubleshoot and maintain classroom systems
  • Act as liaison to B&G for classroom furniture initiatives

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in shift coverage the Technology Services Center during operating hours
  • Troubleshoot computer issues as they relate to events, event spaces, or classroom A/V
  • Must stay up-to-date on innovations in the audiovisual and software market.
  • Manages special initiatives, as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree and/or experience in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Media Production, etc. Related certifications a plus.

Qualifications:

  • 4-5 years of experience in a technically oriented, dynamic customer support environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly learn highly technical information and apply the knowledge to a demanding environment.
  • Experience working and communicating with a diverse community of learners in a higher education setting.
  • Must possess superior customer services skills.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • The successful candidate must be flexible and adaptable, pay close attention to details, quality, and deadlines, and maintaining clear communications.
  • Must be able to lift 25+ pounds and regularly use a ladder.
  • Must possess and demonstrate skills designing, installing, using, and supporting audio visual systems and components.
  • Familiar with video security protocols (HDCP,EDID) and multiple control standards (IP,IR, RS232)

Personal Characteristics

  • Possess strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Must pay close attention to details to increase precision when performing tasks that require accuracy. Work independently and in group settings. Must be self-motivated. A high level of sensitivity, judgment and independent decision-making, as well as ability to prioritize are essential.

Physical Requirements

  • Some moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.) as well as occasional moving of furniture and equipment in the normal course of maintaining a customizable media lab and its equipment should be expected.
