The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 7 is currently recruiting for a VAC Truck Supervisor (Facility Maintenance Supervisor I) position in Frederick County. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this position or function only. You will need to reapply for any future recruitment conducted for this job classification.

Nature of Work: This position functions as the VAC Truck Supervisor at the District 7 Maintenance Office. This position assists the District Operations Engineer (DOE) and Transportation Engineer III (TE III) in the management, maintenance, and assessment of SHA's hydraulic conveyance systems. This includes assigning personnel to the VAC Truck and Video Pipe Inspection (VPI) crew. This position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance activities and prioritizing work schedules of SHA and contractor forces as needed. The employee is expected to give guidance and assistance to less experienced employees and will supervise a project, crew or unit.

This position will provide inspection and technical direction of maintenance-oriented construction projects with a wide variety of duties, and direct control over force accounts. The VAC Truck Supervisor will oversee the operations of the District Drainage Program including but not limited to the operation of the VAC Truck and Camera Inspection Equipment. This position will perform a variety of engineering support tasks. Specific duties will depend on job assignments and may include serving as Project Engineer for medium sized construction and maintenance projects, coordinating complex maintenance activities, performing advanced design work involving complex calculations, and computations and geometric design elements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience in construction, facilities maintenance or skilled trades work. One (1) year of this experience must have been in a lead worker or crew leader capacity.

Selective Qualification: One (1) year of the required experience must have involved drainage asset management.

This statement contains a selective qualification, which is more focused in scope than the minimum qualifications for this classification. Selective qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skill or ability).

Notes:

1. Work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and experience on a year-for-year basis.

Licenses & Certifications

Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.

Candidate must obtain a Class B CDL with Tanker endorsement withing six (6) months from starting the position.
